Johann Sebastian Bach – Suite for orchesta no.1, BWV.1066 in C maj.
Felix Mendelssohn-Bartholdy
Felix Mendelssohn-Bartholdy – Lobgesang / Symphony No.2
A symphony cantata on texts from the Bible for soloists, choir and orchestra’ is how Mendelssohn called his Lobgesang. A grand vocal work that, with its jubilant texts, fits perfectly into the Easter weekend. In preparation, Mendelssohn’s cantata for Good Friday, in which he masterfully sets to music the passion chorale O Haupt voll Blut und Wunden, in imitation of the Bach he so admired. The same Bach then also opens the concert. Swiss conductor Diego Fasolis, who started out as a Baroque specialist, has in recent years also embraced the 19th-century repertoire with great success.
